We'll Take It... E-mail
Written by Cotter

We'll allow these kind of shenanigans because we won.

Of course, the Steelers couldn't make it easy on our tickers.

We may have vomited at several different points in the evening [4th quarter].

But the Steelers got a very much needed win and now move to 2-2, right behind the Ravens and Bengals who are both now 3-1 (thank you, New England and we expected nothing less from you, Cleveland).

If we had told you before the game that Rashard Mendenhall - who spent last Sunday being publicly shamed for missing assignments - would end the night with 166 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, what would you have said?

Wreckingball was in full effect.

We can't tell you how amazing it felt to have an effective running game.

Some early highlights...

I'll bet you never thought you'd see Doug Legursky at fullback.

By the way, if anyone has a link to video of Mendenhall obliterating that dude Stephen Cooper (was it?), send it over.

It wasn't the most flawless victory, but it was a victory.

There were plenty of great things to take away from this game (like most of the first 3 quarters).

And there were also plenty of things that made you wonder if we were being punk'd by Ashton Kutcher.

Just business as usual for Big Ben and friends.

Recap coming at some point tomorrow.

Until then, feel free to deposit any thoughts, concerns, issues, or...gasp...praises(!) in the comments.

PS - The "full" highlights for you...

it wasn't an easy win for pens this weekend as well against isles ... whats up with steelers falling apart in the 4th?
  • Nate
Pens squeaking out a win on the road in the second night of a back-to-back is totally different than the Steelers D continually falling apart in the 4th quarter, week after week. Troy or no Troy, they need to stitch it up and seal the deal. 45 min ain't cuttin' the mustard.

The good news is the offense finished drives with TD's. At any level of football it's just human nature to relax a bit with a 28 pt. lead. And the Chargers offense can put up points on anybody. We had pressure on Rivers and he was making the throws. Like you said, we'll take it.

Agreed. Weird plays and a laid back defense sitting on a big lead are the only reason they came back. I say kudos to the offense, and the defense did what it had to do. A win is a win and with Detroit and Cleveland coming up we'll get to feeling a lot better about this team.
  • Steel Triangle  - Jeff Reed Sober?
Perhaps the most amazing part of this game was that Jeff Reed may have been sober.

    Or maybe not.
  • Steel Triangle  - Fullback
Also, was it my imagination, or was that Doug Legursky Number 64, playing fullback?

If so, great idea! I'm all for it.

He's a center/guard out of Marshall, for what it's worth. And he can play. Always could.
